Reports reaching our newsroom tonight is that the Belmopan City Council has engaged in yet another sale of a popular site in Belmopan. Documents reaching our newsroom show that a portion of the Harriot Topsy Park in the capital city is being sold to members of the Guity family. Among those documents is the a copy of what appears to be the subdivision of the park along with building plans for what seems to be a business structure. Late this evening Love News was able to confirm that the building plans have already been submitted to the Belmopan City Council Building Unit and the Central Building Authority. We were also able to confirm that the structure is indeed being proposed within the park area. A copy of the receipt attached to the documents indicate that the building permit fee was charged under a residential category despite the plans showing that the structure will be for commercial purposes. Our newsroom did reach out to Mayor Khalid Belise for comment, and we will keep following the story.
