The Belmopan City Council has released a statement saying that absolutely no part of the Harriot Topsy Park has been sold. The council noted that two business persons have approached the council to lease a portion of the land for commercial purposes, but that the council remains the rightful owner of the park. Reports reaching our newsroom were that the park was subdivided and was being sold to members of the Guity family. Documents sent to our newsroom show the building plans for the proposed restaurant along with a receipt for the building permit fee charged under the residential category. Late this evening Love News was able to confirm that the building plans have already been submitted to the Belmopan City Council Building Unit and the Central Building Authority. Also issuing a statement on the matter was Sherima and Rory Guity , owners of Tacos Don Carlos, who both confirmed that only a portion of the park was leased to them for business use only.
