Belmopan Morgue Faces Questions Over Delay in Releasing Accident Victim’s Body

Belmopan Morgue Faces Questions Over Delay in Releasing Accident Victim’s Body

The family of Moises Perez is appealing to the authorities to release his body for burial.  It has been nine days since the traffic incident occurred that took the life of the 38-year-old father of four.  Perez’ sister, Miley, says they have been given the runaround at the Belmopan morgue with no reason why they are not releasing the body.

Perez was accompanying a church pastor on Sunday, January 14 when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a Ford F150 pickup truck near La Cabana on the Hummingbird Highway.  Perez was returning from Bella Vista Village when the incident occurred.  The driver of the Ford pickup, Omar Cawich, has since been charged and arraigned for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and driving without due care and attention.
