Belmopan City Council is looking to relocate its main offices
The Belmopan City Council is looking to relocate its main offices. Mayor Khalid Belisle noted that they are currently looking at acquiring a new structure as they have outgrown its current offices.
Khalid Belisle, Mayor of Belmopan: “We are deep in the process of working out the financing for the construction of a new city hall. Belmopan turns 50 years old next year, we’re celebrating our golden anniversary as a community and I think the construction and inauguration of a new city hall just in time for Belmopan day is something that our residents can look forward to. We’re looking at a site in the north of the city, north of the city you would say near to the Adventist church – we’ve spoken with residents in the area who seem generally receptive of the idea of city hall moving there the present location is wholly untenable we cannot possibly consider constructing there we’ve outgrown that particular location and so it will actually lead to a separation of our equipment and works department from the rest of the administrative functions of the city council.”
The Belize City Council recently located its City Hall offices to the former Commercial Centre, downtown Belize City.
