Belmopan Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program Hosts Book Festival

The Belmopan Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (BYSEP) will hold its third “Tek Time fi Read” book festival this month. The event encourages Belizean children and teens to read through the distribution of educational and entertaining books. Since 2018, the youth-led project has brought books into the country in hopes of improving literacy and fostering a love for reading among youth. Yesterday, we spoke with the festival’s Co-Founder Kayleigh Witty, about the initiative, which had been paused since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Witty encouraged attendees to donate a book and spoke about the hard work that goes into organizing the event.

The festival will be held on July 20.
