Thieves are getting more brazen. Bennys, one of the larger businesses in the City was targeted by thieves late Friday evening. The police say that an armed man held up an employee at Bennys Bargain Center and stole thousands of dollars. The officer commanding CIB, Alejandro Cowo said the employee had no choice but to hand over the cash.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “Mr. Nathaniel Perrera a Belizean cashier of Benny’s Bargain Center located at #54 Freetown Road. He reported that he was standing in front of the business place when he was approached by a male person who came from the direction of Freetown riding a bicycle who questioned him if the business place was still open and he replied that it was already closed. The male person did as he was riding back towards Freetown and came back again towards his location. Upon approaching him the male person jumped off his bicycle, pulled up his shirt, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the male person. Fearing for his life he handed over a deposit bag that he had with him which contained four thousand seven hundred sixty five dollars in cash which was the day’s sales. The male person then rode his bicycle towards Freetown making good his escape.
