Mayor Jorge Rosalez has threatened to fire over a dozen employees from the Benque Viejo del Carmen Town Council. The issue of termination at the council came about on The Morning Show today when the matter of axle fees for truckers came up. According to Rosalez, the revenues derived from the axle fees are to go to the council to sustain the municipality. He noted that in the first instance, as much as ninety thousand dollars were collected in one year, but by the following year, only four thousand dollars went into their account. Mayor Rosalez says the shortage in revenue has already resulted in the firing of ten employees and he is now prepared to fire more if the axle fees are not generated for the town council.

Jorge Rosales,Mayor of Benque Viejo del Carmen: “I have made a homework at the council that if this axle doesn’t come in or until it comes in, I have to let go. I have let go 10 people already. And then I’m letting go 15. If by this Friday I don’t get an answer of what will be happening. Until I get those monies from the axel fee I will let go 15 people if I don’t get how to pay them because I have been struggling getting money to pay, you know how things go and the reason I will be letting go them is because I don’t have the money to pay them so we have adjusted everything and I’m ready to make a meeting with the workers and tell them exactly what’s going on so that’s the way I stand right now.”
