Bowen and Bowen Limited and Bowen Imports and Goods (BIG) started an indefinite monthly initiative with Liberty Children’s home. They will be assisting them with household items such as groceries, water and detergents to sustain their daily needs. Liberty Children’s home is a non-governmental organization licensed to groom abused, neglected, and abandoned children. According to the Director of Liberty Children’s home, Agatha Valentine, they provide a holistic rearing of their residents at the home.
Agatha Valentine, Director, Liberty Children’s Home: “We provide a nurturing environment, we do a holistic approach to our children. Our residents they are children that are brought to us by the Department of Human Services, they have experienced some level of trauma and so we look at where each child is physically, psychologically, medically, we provide all the nurturing that a child would need including education, social; so we do a holistic rearing of our residents here at Liberty. We also provide spiritual – we are not denominational however we do expose them to some level of spirituality. BIG which is Belize Imports and Goods Limited, a part of the Bowen Group of Companies, decided that they wanted to contribute to our monthly grocery bill which depending on what the needs are can be close to $4,000 Belize dollars a month. Bowen and BIG decided that they will donate $1,000 monthly of our monthly grocery expenditure. This is a huge plus for us, it’s a big contribution as it can be very overwhelming for management to supply the needs for the residents. We have to provide three meals a day for them including snacks and so we’re very grateful for the monthly donation, this will be a monthly donation by Bowen and Bowen to Liberty. On behalf of all of us the management, the board of directors, staff, residents, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Bowen and Bowen Group. We would also like to invite other corporate bodies and entities to come in and see what we do. We did see a lot of people coming in over the December period wanting to give back to a child we are very grateful for that as well and we want to at this time also extend a big thank you to others that came in over the year.”
According to the Public Relations Officer at Bowen and Bowen, John Palacio they try to donate as much as possible to as many as possible.
John Briceno, Public Relations Coordinator, Bowen and Bowen: “The handing over was a great gift from us. We donated $1,000 worth of products from Bowen and Bowen/ Bowen Imported Goods. $800 worth of groceries from them or food items things like soap powder, shampoo, food items. So we actually donated that along with 25 5 gallon Crystal Water to Liberty Children’s Home. We had a crew who went up to Ladyville to Liberty Children’s Home and we just felt that this is very admirable the work that they’re doing for the young people and we decided that we could actually donate to them and that’s the reason why we took that step. So what we’re doing is that we’re donating $1,000 worth of items to Liberty Children’s Home on a monthly basis and it is indefinite. We donate to a lot of different homes, at B&B one of the things that we do we understand what life is, we understand how difficult things are for families, we understand how difficult things are for people and so what we do is we go out on a limb and we try our best to donate as much as possible to as many as possible.”
Liberty Children’s home provides a safe and nurturing environment for the children to grow holistically.
