Many persons have condemned domestic abuse following the report of Shyne Barrow’s altercation with his wife. They have also stated that the police need to do more to assist victims. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, stated the persons come into the department to give future reports all the time, and that this particular case has the spotlight solely because it involves the Prime Minister’s son.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Shyne Barrow is not the first person that that had occurred to. If you look at the format of the report it have “Report for Future Reference” and “Report for Court Action” because every day the police at Domestic Violence do take reports for future references where persons are not arrested and charged so it is not something strange but at the end of the day there are many persons out there who want to condemn me as the Commissioner for not forcing the police to charge even though the young lady came back and withdrew her complaint and made it clear from the onset that she do not want nothing but some of the same people who want to condemn me they’re out there doing worse than Shyne Barrow just that their woman or their wives are afraid to come forward and make complaints.”
While Shyne Barrow is seemingly off the hook, Kenneth Flowers, also known as Big Tom, is back in court after just being released from prison among those arrested under the south side State of Emergency. As you may recall, Flowers was accused of forcing two persons to commit a sexual act. It was a despicable act caught on video and went viral on social media. Big Tom was ordering his ex-girlfriend to perform sexual acts on another man reportedly after he found out that she had been unfaithful. Big Tom was subsequently picked up, and as apologetic as he was in speaking one on one with the Police, the Commisioner of Police says had it been up to him, Big Tom would get no mercy.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I guess the world saw the activity that Big Tom was involved in and I don’t think anyone in their right mind is going to sympathize with him at this time. He knew exactly what he got into when he forced by way of threat two individuals to perform some sexual act, that is no small crime that he had committed and as I said before when the incident initially happened the witnesses were unwilling to cooperate due to the fact of who Big Tom is and so what we did under the SOE was to send him to prison while the investigators continued to investigate with a view to gather evidence on him that we can charge and so the time that he was in prison we were able to do some work, gather the relevant evidence against him and so the charges were laid against him and so he appeared before the court I think on Tuesday or Wednesday, he has since then pled not guilty and the court, rightly, remanded him to to custody. He should remain in prison forever as far as I’m concerned.”
The charge against Flowers is procuring defilement of a person by threat.
