Blaze at Mayan Garden Resort causes over $5 million in damages

Over the weekend there was a blaze in the Orange Walk District that resulted in over five million dollars in damages. In the wee hours of Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the Mayan Garden Resort and destroyed a number of its thatch structures. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the blaze but not before a significant portion of the resort was destroyed. Supervisor at the National Fire Service, Kenneth Mortis, explained that the cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained but fire investigators are probing into several leads.
