BNTU Urges Government Action as Wildfires Worsen Air Quality in Southern Districts

The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) is calling on the government to bring all hands on deck in the south to assist the victims of the recent wildfires.  While the union may be a bit late in its call to the government, they did express gratitude to the Ministry of Education for prioritizing the safety and health of students by calling off classes in the district earlier this week.  The situation, however, according to the union has worsened as teachers and residents are complaining of the air quality which presents a potential health crisis in the south.  With that said the BNTU calls on Prime Minister John Briceno to ensure that a holistic plan is in place that will address the ongoing situation.
