Tonight, the family of thirty-year-old Jarid Usher is one step closer to finding out what happened to the missing fisherman after his boat was found. Usher’s father confirmed with our newsroom that the skiff named Blessed Youth was found abandoned on July Eight, the last time the family had contact with the usher, near the Manatee Lookout Restaurant on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Raymond Usher told Love News that persons in the area had reported the discovery to the police who handed the matter over to the Belize Port Authority. According to Usher, the BPA impounded the boat and to his knowledge never made any attempts to contact the family. Usher also noted that the search for his son continued today as family members and a search team from Belize Coast Guard were out searching for any signs of him. The family had last seen Usher three weeks ago before he departed for a routine fishing trip. The public is asked to contact Usher’s family at 672-6378 or at 604-9840 if you have any information that may lead to his whereabouts.
