Body of Missing 92-Year-Old Thomas Salam Found in River

The search for 92-year-old Thomas Salam Senior came to a tragic end this week after his body was found in the river. Salam, a resident of Pueblo Viejo Village, in the Toledo district, was reported missing on Sunday, July 21, after he left his home around two in the afternoon but never returned. Relatives who saw him last said he was headed to his plantation on foot with a sack. After making checks and the plantation and not finding him, his family made a report to police. Search parties gathered in the village on Monday, and found Salam’s body trapped between tree limbs, a short distance from the main bridge in the village. His body was transported to the Punta Gorda Hospital and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
