The body of a woman was found in a shallow grave after she had been reported missing. On Friday, August 7, 39-year-old Julia Timotea Millian Moran was reported missing by her sister. According to the sister she had not seen Moran since July 30. Moran was last seen in the company of a security guard, 55-year-old Jorge Arturo Leon last week which led to his detention. After being questioned by police, Leon led investigators to a feeder road near mile sixteen on the Stann Creek Valley Road where the woman’s body was found buried in a shallow grave. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett explained the motive behind this latest murder.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “They detained and interviewed one Jorge Leon, 55 years also of Santa Cruz Village and also having an address in Steadfast Village in the Stann Creek district. During the course of the investigation police visited a farm at 16 miles on the Stann Creek Valley Road where they found a shallow grave and upon digging up that grave the body of Julia Millian was found in an advanced state of decomposition. The body was removed from there and is awaiting a post mortem examination at this time. As a result police have since arrested and charged Jorge Leon 55 years for the crime of murder. We are aware that during the course of the investigation revealed that there seemed to be a relationship between the two. We also know that the deceased had a matter before the court in relation to injuries caused to one of Leon’s daughters so that is an angle also being looked at during the course of the investigation. We know that he had visited Dangriga police station on the 29th I believe accompanied by the deceased who one of her bail conditions is that she has to sign into the police station and that was seemingly the last time she was seen alive.”
The victim reportedly has had a history of conflicts with the suspect’s family.
