Boledo and Sunday Lottery vendors are being forced to take a pause come Sunday April 30 until the Government presents a new order. With the exclusive license being revoked for Brad’s Gaming Group, the last Boledo draw will be on Friday, April 28 and the last Sunday lottery will be on April 30. The Belize Lotteries Committee issued an advisory this morning to the public, Boledo agents, and subagents that as of May 2, 2023, they too are prohibited from selling Government Lotteries. Prime Minister John Briceno would not go deep in an interview on this issue, only to say that the government will reinstate the sale of boledo and lottery in due time.
John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize: “Well obviously when during the pandemic when they- weren’t’ selling Boledo for a few weeks nobody lost their life. So we want to ensure that whatever is done we have to ensure that it can be done properly in an in a way that our citizens can benefit from it and that’s as much a I can go because as you know the former Prime Minister has threatened to sue the government.”
The advisory from the Belize Lotteries Committee further noted that anyone caught promoting or selling any government lottery from this date onward without a valid license will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The public will be advised when the Government Lotteries will resume normal activity.
