Brazen ATM Heist Shakes Ladyville: Thieves Make Off With Machine Near Police Station

Thieves did an encore early this morning as they yanked an entire ATM from the U-Mall in Ladyville, Belize District.  The brazen robbery occurred a block away from the police station at around four o’clock this morning.  In similar fashion as the December 1 ATM theft in Belize City, the thieves used a van, attached it to a towing line and wrenched the machine from its location.  Love News reached out to Heritage Bank’s General Manager, Stephen Duncan, who indicated that there was no cash inside the dispenser.  He did note that the bank is strategizing on the way forward as it relates to ATMs.  Video surveillance of the incident shows the men at work at around four o’clock this morning.  Information to our newsroom says that the machine was found broken and discarded by the Tubal Institute near mile eleven on the Philip Goldson Highway.
