Brian Brown Shot by Police After Machete Incident

Brian Brown, a man who has made headlines various times for criminal activity, is back in the news tonight after being shot in an encounter with police. Sometime around ten o’clock this morning, police responded to Jimmy Dyer Street in the Faber’s Road extension area.  Police were reportedly told of someone menacing passersby with a machete. When they arrived at the scene, they instructed Brown to put the machete away, but he refused. Instead, Brown allegedly assaulted the officers. In response, they shot him with a round of non-lethal ammunition; however, he continued his advance. Officers then reportedly fired a single shot of live ammunition, hitting Brown in the leg. He was detained and subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition. We note that Brown is expected to be charged in respect to a formal complaint filed by someone he assaulted, as well as the assault he made against the police. We note that Brown appears in our records for several crimes, including drug possession, damage to property, issuing death threats, and aggravated assault.
