Briceno Administration Plans to Develop New Port to Improve Trade with Caye Caulker and San Pedro

The Briceno Administration is hoping to develop a new port in the Newland Mennonite community in the Corozal District. The proposed shipping port is expected to reduce the cost of goods on the islands of Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye by lowering the cost of shipping the products from the mainland. Discussions are also being made to establish a water-taxi service to and from the northern islands. CEO of the Ministry of Blue Economy, Kennedy Carrillo explained the importance of improving trade between the mainland and the cayes.
