Bridge Dilemma in San Pedro, Columbia Village Raises Questions About Government Policy

As policy for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and housing, they are not allowed to carry out works on private properties.    This weekend, however, the ministry was faced with a bit of a dilemma as a wooden bridge, used to enter and exit San Pedro, Columbia Village, Toledo District, collapsed.  It’s a dilemma since the village is considered communal lands, and any activity or works that the government wants to do in the village has to gain the approval of the village leaders.  The leaders, however, were prepared to throw policy out the window in order to the bridge repaired immediately.  Engineering Coordinator, Evondale Moody, confirmed to Love News that the situation is a sensitive one.

As it relates to the incident of the fallen bridge, our newsroom understand that a dump truck was crossing over when the infrastructure collapsed.
