Two brothers were stabbed during J’ouvert in Belize City on Saturday morning. Around 5 o’clock, Calvert and Keon Young were among the group of revelers enjoying the pre-Carnival event when they were attacked by an assailant near Majestic Alley. The assailant, who was in the crowd, approached the Young Brothers and stabbed them both. Senior Superintendent of Police, Hilberto Romero, says a motive behind the attack is unknown and officers are yet to identify a suspect.
Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero: “Information is they were both walking in that area when they were attacked by a male person who inflicted the stab wounds to them. They were a part of the J’ouvert or carnival taking place at the time.”
Reporter: Any idea what led to this incident?
Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero: “We do not know. We know that there were crowds of a lot of persons in the area and at some point they were attacked and stabbed. There were police officers at the event. Some were at the front. Some were at the back and some were around the crowd but somehow this person came and there were a lot of people there and he managed to get around this large crowd and he inflicted the stab wounds to these persons.”
