The Government of Belize and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) are partnering in a fuel subsidy program for licensed tour and tender operators. The program is designed to alleviate operational expenses as fuel prices continue to rise. The BTB’s Director of Capacity Management, Abil Castaneda says that this is to assist these stakeholders as the industry continues to rebound from the financial strain it has been under for the past two years.
Castaneda also explained that after reviewing applications and finalizing the program, it will be implemented for a period of up to six months. He added that the information provided by applicants will allow them to distribute the subsidies in an equitable manner.
The fuel subsidy program is open to marine and terrestrial operators. The deadline to submit applications is this Friday, May 13.
