The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) is celebrating a major milestone of 40 years in service. Since its founding in 1985, BTIA has played a pivotal role in shaping the national tourism landscape. With close to 300 members spanning the country, the association has served as a powerful voice for stakeholders while championing sustainable growth, cultural promotion, and economic empowerment through tourism. Among its many achievements, BTIA has launched some of the sector’s most recognizable initiatives, including the Belize Tourism Expo (BETEX) and the production of Destination Belize, the country’s premier tourism magazine. The association has also organized numerous festivals celebrating Belize’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders, contributing to the country’s recognition as a world-class destination. Today, BTIA President Efren Perez reflected on the milestone.
While the official anniversary is tomorrow, Perez says a large celebration is being planned for July.
Perez says the date for the event will be announced soon
