The body of a San Ignacio carpenter is at the morgue awaiting a post mortem examination after he was involved in a traffic incident on the Bullet Tree Road in that municipality. Love News spoke with the Western Regional Commander, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez on the investigation.
“In relation to the road traffic accident at about 2:10 am on the 28th of March acting upon information San Ignacio police visited the Bullet Tree road near the village where they saw a Nissan Pathfinder with license plate 03598 extensively damaged. They also saw three individuals one Alvarado, we have a Byron Barcena and a John Chun with injuries but they were transferred to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where we saw Alvarado succumb to his injuries. Mr. Barcena was taken to the Western Regional Hospital and Mr. Cho was treated and released. Initial investigation revealed that Mr.Alvarado was the driver of that pickup, they were travelling from Bullet Tree village to San Ignacio and just on the outskirts of Bullet Tree Village Mr.Alvarado lost control of the vehicle which caused it to overturn resulting in injuries to his head and body and subsequently caused his demise. The post mortem has not yet been conducted and that is part of a protocol that we have established now that whenever there is any accident we try to get blood samples from the deceased and that is taken to the forensic office for testing so on conclusion I will let the media know of the outcome of the testing. For those who do not know the area it is basically a curve and if you are speeding and you try to turn on that curve you will lose control .”
The other two passengers have been treated and released.
