Bullet Tree Man Found Dead in Mopan River

The body of a man was retrieved from the Mopan River in the Cayo District yesterday. Just after 3 o’clock, the body of 55-year-old Rafael Vasquez was found floating in the area of Bullet Tree Village. Police say Vasquez was found lying face down by two fishermen who had traveled to the area. Investigators have since labeled his death as drowning, and foul play is not suspected at this time. This evening, his brother Orlando Vasquez spoke to our newsroom about the unfortunate ordeal.  He indicated that the family believes Vasquez drowned while trying to get home.

Vasquez was a resident of Bullet Tree Village, Cayo.
