Bus Fares to Increase Says PM Briceno

With the increase of fuel prices comes the increase of other goods and services. Pretty soon, the increase will have to be absorbed by commuters through bus fares. It is something that bus operators of the Belize Bus Association are clamoring for, citing that with the continuous price increases they have been operating at a loss. Love News understands that Transport Minister, Rodwell Ferguson is expected to present a paper to Cabinet with a proposal; and from the look of things, bus fares will likely increase. This is what Prime Minister John Briceno told reporters today.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister Belize: The price of Diesel has been going up considerably. The need is real. We know that the price of fuel is continuing to go up and that the bus lines are not making money and these are some of the things that, it is out of our control. We do not have control over a number of these things, a number of these items.”
