Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “The proprietor tried to be astute in the sense that they pull down the shutter, make it look like it was closed but inside the members were inside working out so they would come to the gym, they go inside so the shutters are pulled down to make it look like they’re closed and so I had sent the officers to the gym this morning to make checks and yes we found out that there were four persons inside working out  and the shutters were closed and so those persons were detained and I’ve directed the officer in charge of Belize City to ensure that the manager or owner of the gym is located and he will be charged under the regulation for opening this establishment that should be closed.”

Reporter: Are you looking at working with the Belize City Council to see if any disciplinary action can be taken in regard to their trade license?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Well that’s a matter yes that the city council can look at in terms of whether or not they act in violation of the trade license which I don’t think that it would be it was more likely acting in violation of the state of emergency regulations so it’s a matter for city council they want to stretch it that far I personally do not see it but it’s a matter for them to decide.”
