Businessman Sentenced to Prison for Failing to Pay Judicial Order Fine

A Hattieville businessman has been sent to prison for not paying a fine. Santiago Zaiden appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with violating a judicial order. On February 11, 2022, Zaiden was ordered to pay five thousand, five hundred dollars but he paid just shy of three thousand five hundred. He was sentenced to the Belize Central Prison for a term of six weeks. When he is released, he will still need to pay two thousand and twenty dollars which is the outstanding balance.
