Vicky Gabourel is a businesswoman in Belmopan who is threatening to draft a petition protesting a permit granted to Western Dairies by the city council. Apparently, Western Dairies is setting up a shop in the Mae Gordon Park to sell its products. Gabourel took to social media, saying that she has repeatedly asked for a permit to expand her business in the park, but she has been dismissed. With the new business setting up in the park, Gabourel says she believes it is a case of favoring the big businesses over the small man. Correspondent Fem Cruz spoke with Dr Ludwig Palacio of the Belmopan City Council who confirmed that there is an agreement with Western Dairies.
The Belmopan City Council issued a release this evening explaining that Western Dairies, as part of the agreement, has agreed to take on responsibility for the ambiance and utility of the park.
