The youth arm of the People’s United Party, the Belize Youth Movement (BYM) has made a call to Belizean youths to demand that the Government write off their student loans.  According to a release, this is in light of the recent write offs taken to the House of Representatives.  The release particularly refers to the write off of the $40,000 loan to Joshua Perdomo. The BYM states that “we live in a Belize that is biased… one where only those select cronies obtain the opportunities that should be present for all our young brothers and sisters.” The youth-centered organization stated that they find it despicable that all members of the government voted to forgive the loan but have never presented a solution to benefit all students. The BYM ends by asking young persons of the country to demand better from those elected into office.
