At the top of the newscast, we told you about Cabinet’s greenlighting of trade license reforms in cities, towns and villages across the country. In addition to this announcement, Cabinet on Tuesday gave approval to a number of other things. Among them is a review of fees in the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Order of 2003. Cabinet also approved that the Ministry of Public Utilities conduct a pre-feasibility analysis for the construction of bus terminals countrywide. The Ministry of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation is also begin developing the Belize Civil Aviation Regulation relating to security. In essence, it allows for the regulation of all aviation security matters and to implement recommendations to Belize to meet the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization. The Ministry has also gotten the approval to establish a strategic plan for the sector, beginning in 2022. Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler reported on his trip to the U.S. in which he met with the Belizean Diaspora. As we reported, the Government’s representatives spoke with Belizeans living in the cities of Houston, Chicago, Miami and New York to discuss issues including crime, banking, the COVID-19 pandemic and repatriation among other social issues.
