Ministry of Health and Wellness is scheduled to announce the upcoming changes in the Covid-19 regulations come tomorrow. These changes were part of Cabinet’s discussion this week along with several other issues including the formation of the commission that will look into the sale of government assets under the previous administration, as well as the formation of a technical team led by the Prime Minister to look at the budget. This team will work closely with the unions and will include Ministers Francis Fonseca, Cordel Hyde and Henry Charles Usher. Cabinet also approved for the ratification of three CARIFORUM Bilateral Agreements: a free trade agreement between CARICOM and the Dominican Republic, an agreement on trade, economic and technical cooperation between CARICOM and Venezuela, and an agreement on trade, economic and technical cooperation between CARICOM and Colombia. These agreements were ratified at today’s special sitting of the Senate. The Cabinet also received a report from the Minister of Health on proposals for the reopening of the Corozal Free Zone and gave its approval for the resumption of business at the Free Zone on February 1, 2021. These highlights were discussed on Tuesday, January 29 in the weekly Cabinet sessions.
