Cabinet Moves Forward with Municipal Boundary Delineation Consultations

Another crucial discussion had at this week’s meeting of Cabinet ministers had to do with the delineation exercise for the seven towns in Belize.  We have been reporting on this exercise for some years now, and this week Cabinet has given the nod for the relevant authorities to proceed with consultations.  Essentially, the idea is to align the boundaries to what in practice the municipalities provide services to and for within those jurisdictions.  Director of Local Government, Clifford King had given Love News this interview some five months ago when the consultations were to begin rolling out.

The most recently delineated municipality was back in 2001 for Punta Gorda Town when Hopeville became a part of the municipality proper.
