Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie Justifies Government’s Stance on Israel

Justifying the government’s stance yesterday was Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie. He was asked if the government was expecting any backlash from the move and if he felt the stance was reflective of the country’s views. Here’s how he responded.

Stuart Leslie, Cabinet Secretary: “The right to self determination has always been our cornerstone of our foreign policy. What is happening in Palestine is unconscionable. I can’t stand watching the pictures of babies being pulled out of rubble and the amount of people dead every single day. We could not just sit back and say nothing when the Palestinian people are suffering in such a way. I think it was a very strong move for Belize to do and from the feedback that we have received from the public not just at home but from abroad I think that people are with us on this one.”
