Capacity Building Workshop Aims to Create Tourism Employment in Dangriga

The Ministry of Economic Development is seeking to create tourism employment opportunities in Dangriga by building capacity for tourism stakeholders. The Ministry is holding a two-day capacity building workshop at the Dangriga Town Hall, where stakeholders engaged with consultants and representatives from the Ministry about initiatives that already exist and how those initiatives can be improved upon. Consultant Dr. Lenni George told Love News that the discussions will be focused on ensuring that businesses will be employing sustainable tourism practices.

Deborah Hulse, Economist for the Ministry of Economic Development, said that the workshop forms a part of a larger push to improve tourism in southern Belize. She added that one of the major goals of the workshop is fostering greater collaboration between tourism stakeholders in Dangriga.

Hulse also said that the participants will benefit from the project because the issues being discussed are things that they are already putting into practice.
