Captain Maria Martinez Earns Honors in General Surgery, Paving the Way for Women in Medicine

Captain MC Maria Josefina Martinez has achieved a milestone in her career, marking the culmination of four years of intensive General Surgery training at the Hospital Central Militar in Mexico. Martinez presented her thesis with distinction, earning the coveted “Mención Honorífica” for her outstanding performance. The Belize Defence Force (BDF) via a Facebook post made earlier today celebrated Martinez’s accomplishment as she continues to inspire as a trailblazer in her field. This achievement not only reflects the personal resilience but the progress of women in traditionally male-dominated professions. Martinez will now transition from her academic and clinical training to her new role back in the BDF.
