Caribbean Telecommunication Union Hosts Meetings in Belize

Representatives from all over the Caribbean were in Belize last week for the Caribbean Telecommunication Union’s (CTU) 50th Executive Council Meeting and the Caribbean ICT Ministers Seminar & Retreat. The 4-day event was held at the San Ignacio Hotel, and concluded on Saturday. The Executive Council meeting is one of the CTU’s statutory meetings for the members of the Executive Council, its Permanent Secretaries, Technical Officers, and Advisors to the ICT Minister, to guide the work of the Secretariat. The 21st Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar, like previous seminars, will share with Ministers and their teams the current, pertinent developments in the areas of 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity. Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics & E-Governance spoke on discussions taking place during the meetings and the importance of the CTU in the regional development of the Information Technology sector.

Belize’s distinguished guests at the event were Prime Minister John Briceno, Ministers Michel Chebat, Kevin Bernard, Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Oscar Mira, and CEO Nicole Solano.
