CARICOM Grants Belize Waiver on Taxes for Female Sanitary Products

Belize has received the green light from the CARICOM Council for Trade and Economic Development to have the common external tariff on female sanitary products waived.  The suspension of this tax will be for one-year as it related to sanitary towels, and a 2-year relief on tampons.  With the recent local tax exemption on female sanitary towels, this relief from CARICOM is expected to have the prices on these items reduced again.  According to the Government, the necessary regulations on the zero-ratings will be updated shortly.
