Carnival Committee Continues Preparations for Belize’s Carnival Day

Carnival Day is getting closer, and the Carnival Committee continues their assessments of mas camps in Belize City last night. The Love Crew was also touring mas camps to speak with bands and get a preview of the costumes being brought to this year’s carnival road march. Trench Town Mas Band, one of the junior bands, was the first stop on the agenda last night, where Patricia Flowers explained the inspiration for the costumes. 

The next stop on the list was Jump Street Posse, the band that captured the junior kind and junior queen spots at the Carnival King and Queen competition last weekend. Marina Welcome, who has over thirty years working with Carnival, spoke on the inspiration for this year’s costumes.

Mas camp scores also count towards a band’s total score for the entire carnival competition, but the bulk of their points will be earned at the carnival road march on Saturday.
