The Catholic Churches in Belize are implementing a plan that seeks to lessen the potential spread of COVID-19.  A release from the Roman Catholic Chancery Office went into circulation on Wednesday cautioning church members to stay at home if they are experiencing symptoms of illness.  For those who choose to attend, there will be changes in the format of the mass as the shaking of hands as a sign of peace is being taken out of the mass program.  The drinking from the chalice is being suspended, the holding of hands during mass is being discouraged and communion will be given strictly in hands and no holy water will be given for use in public spaces.  The plan goes on indefinitely as the Church says it will be monitoring the situation as the weeks progress.  The letter was signed by the Most Reverend Lawrence Nicasio.
