Caye Caulker Restaurant Owner Turns American Fugitive Over to the Authorities.

American fugitive, Aldrick Scott, is back in the United States in the custody of the authorities. Scott has been wanted since November 20, in connection with the disappearance of his then-girlfriend, Cari Allen. He was arrested on Tuesday in Caye Caulker Village. Scott was on the run from authorities for the past three weeks and eventually made his way to Belize where he was able to keep a low profile. Scott was handed over to the police, by the owner of Google Grills, Shalton Fuentes. But, Scott was actually staying with Fuentes, who decided to take him into his home, not knowing his true identity. Love News spoke with Fuentes today and he explains how he ended up housing an accused murderer.

Shalton Fuentes, Owner, Google Grills: “I started looking out for the man. I started giving him food, I started clothing the man and everything but he didn’t have anywhere to stay and I didn’t know that he committed the crime. So from there I asked him what his name was and he told me that his name was Elson Scott. From there he gave me his name and everything and when I looked up his name through the social media they said he was the one that killed the woman. To me the vibe that he gave me he was frightened. He didn’t look like somebody that was a friendly person he was frightened and stressed out and from there when he looked frightened, stressed out and everything well I told him not to worry about anything I will give you a job, I told him I would give him a job and have him work for me and everything. From there we started to communicate, we started chilling. We came out, we have fun but he doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke or anything he’s just serious and he was fidgeting.”

Fuentes says that in the weeks leading up to his arrest, Scott became increasingly anxious and agitated. After he discovered Scott’s true identity, he contacted the U.S. Embassy to get advice on what course of action to take. However, Scott eventually asked him to turn him in.

Shalton Fuentes, Owner, Google Grills: “What I did was I contacted the US Embassy and from there when I contacted the US Embassy I called one of my clients who was an officer here in Caye Caulker and from there the information moved a long and from there everything got worse and I continued monitoring him and I continued watching him and his movements and everything. So from there while I was contacting the lady from the embassy and she told me to just monitor him and stay on a level where I could watch him everyday. The man told me personally he was the one that committed the crime, that he was tired of running, that I should give him in to the police so end of the day I played a big role that I gave him into the police because he already committed the crime and he just wanted to serve his time. He told me that he didn’t want to run anymore he just told me to give him in to the police and I handed him over to the cops.”
