Caye Caulker residents are feeling the pressures over gas prices. Love News spoke via Zoom with the Chairlady of the Caye Caulker Village Council, Seleny Villanueva Pott, who explained that as the cost of fuel continues to rise, so does the cost of everything on the island. Villanueva Pott further explained the difficulties that the island faces due to the fuel prices.
Seleny Villanueva Pott, Chairlady, Caye Caulker Village Council: “I don’t think anybody is really happy in regards to fuel prices being raised but I believe it’s a worldwide factor. On the world market, the prices of fuel keep going up so until there’s a stability in that then I believe we will see a decrease in the fuel prices but when there’s an increase in fuel, there’s an increase in everything on these islands because everything has to be ferried out onto these islands. So hopefully it is remedied soon and we are able to normalise prices.”
