Cayo Central Representative Alex Balona Tours San Antonio Village, Discusses Challenges and Expansion Plans

This week, Area Representative for Cayo Central Alex Balona, went on a tour of San Antonio Village along with several other parliamentarians. Balona was accompanied by parliament colleagues Mike Espat, Ramiro Ramirez, Gilroy Usher, Oscar Mira, Ramon Cervantes, Marconi Leal, and Louis Zabaneh. The delegation met with the Yucatec Maya Women’s Group clothing project and learned of the women’s plans for expansion. The delegation also visited the Oxmul Farmers’ peanut and corn fields on the east and north sides of the village. The farmers shared with the delegation the Farmers expressed the challenges they face with the high cost of inputs and minimal levels of support. The delegation also met with San Antonio Chairman Aron Tzib and other village councilors. Balona ended his tour by reaffirming his commitment to the improvement of the community.
