Cayo Man Busted with Five Kilos of Cocaine, Police Say May be from a Wet Drop

A Camalote Village businessman was busted with over five kilos of cocaine. Yesterday evening Belmopan Quick Response Team (QRT), based on intelligence provided by the Special Branch Unit, intercepted a grey Toyota Sequoia on Trinity Boulevard. Officers searched the vehicle that was driven at the time by forty-nine-year-old, Orlando Pascasio. During the search, police found a black shopping bag that contained five rectangular parcels wrapped with transparent plastic each containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine. Altogether, the parcels weighed 5.3 kilograms, which is just under 12 pounds. According to the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams the drugs may be connected to a wet drop down south.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We believe that those drugs that were found yesterday may be connected to some wet drop in the southern part of Belize and there are other persons we’re looking at and other things we’re doing, I’m not going to go into details now because it may jeopardize what we’re trying to achieve but yes we did have that bust yesterday of 5.3 kilos of cocaine and the persons concerned should be taken to court sometime today.”

Pascasio was formally arrested and charged for the possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another.
