A watchman from the Cayo District lost his life in a tragic accident in Belize City on Wednesday afternoon. 35-year-old Nuelmar Garcia was on duty at a boatyard in the Buttonwood Bay when he offered to assist a heavy-duty machine operator working in the area. According to police, Garcia offered to tie a heavy-duty fork to the bucket of a backhoe so that it could have been lifted. But, as the operator lifted the fork, it got loose and struck Garcia in the chest. The blow caused the watchman to fall to the ground killing him almost instantly. His body was transported to the morgue where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. Police investigations continue.
