A man was murdered in the wee hours of this morning in the Cayo District. Around 3 o’clock, police visited an area of the George Price Highway in Santa Elena Town and discovered the lifeless body of a man. The victim, identified as 51-year-old Julian Villanueva, was found with a cut wound to the chest. Villanueva’s body was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Villanueva, who was a resident of Santa Elena Town, was employed at the Bel Chi Ice Company in Cayo. Heraldo Requena, one of Villanueva’s co-workers, says Villanueva was a hardworking man whose murder has shocked many.
Heraldo Requena, Friend of Deceased: “Bombis well he was my best friend at work now to find out that this morning that they found him dead and check it out now I’ll miss the man from work. His seat will be empty, we won’t see the man around now and yesterday was the last day I worked with the man and we ran a few little jokes for the ending and now I’ll miss the man. He worked with us like for seven years I’ve been working with the man around here. He was a good work partner, the best work partner I could call then because he liked running jokes with us too and he wasn’t always serious. So I’ll miss the man I won’t say no. My partner went missing so I ‘ll feel it a lot.”
Police are yet to ascertain a motive behind the murder; their investigations continue.
