Cayo Resident Critical After Alleged Assault

A resident of the Cayo District is in critical condition after he was allegedly beaten and left for dead.  On Sunday night, 64-year-old Rafael Balona was taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital after he was found unconscious. The construction worker was reportedly attacked on his way and sustained severe injuries to his head and body. His family says Balona underwent surgery for his injuries but needs blood to undergo further medical procedures. He is admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital’s ICU and, according to his family, he is fighting to survive.
