Cayo Resident Reported Missing

Police are investigating the strange disappearance of a Benque Viejo man. 69-year old Miguel Caceros was last seen on January 1, 2021. What is most unusual about his disappearance are the circumstances under which it occurred. Initial reports reveal that Caceros was socializing with others on a farm when a dispute ensued and ended with Caceros being tied up by the people he was with. He was left by himself as the others went to the Benque Viejo Police to report the incident. Upon their return, Caceros was gone. ACP Joseph Myvett, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch spoke to the media about the incident.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On the first of January some time around 4pm one Carlos Gomez of a Benque Viejo Town address visited the Benque Viejo police station and reported that he had visited his farm located on the Hydro road which is the Arenal road and whilst there he met two other persons including one Miguel Caceros a 69-year-old who resides at a nearby farm. Apparently they were socializing when Caceros got into a dispute with one of those persons and he left toward his farm and returned with a pellet gun and upon his return he discharged the pellet gun in the direction of one of those persons hitting him in the abdomen. As a result a struggle ensued and he was subdued by those persons and tied up after which it is alleged that they then left the area and went to Benque Viejo police where they made this report. Upon their arrival back at the farm Mr.Caceros was not found. Since then a team of police and family members have been conducting searches within the entire area but he has not been seen or heard from since. At this point in time we are looking at all angles and those persons who I spoke about are currently detained pending this investigation.”

Police investigations into this matter continue.
