A road traffic incident over the weekend claimed the life of a woman and left a minor clinging to life. On Saturday, 38-year-old, Maria Cedillo and her eight-year-old son, Luis Gutierrez were traveling on a motorcycle on the Aguacate Lagoon Road in Spanish Lookout, Cayo District. Reports are that the cycle they were traveling on collided into a Toyota Fore Runner SUV coming in the opposite direction. Driving the SUV, at the time, was 24-year-old, Jesson Perez, who reported to police that he allegedly took the curve too short and collided with the cycle. According to Police spokesman Fitzroy Yearwood, Perez has been served with a notice of intended prosecution and is expected to be charged.
Cedillo’s son, Luis Gutierrez also sustained head and body injuries and is listed in a critical but stable condition at the Western Regional Hospital.
