A teenager from rural Cayo is claiming that he was beaten by Police officers. Correspondent Fem Cruz went to the home of the 17-year-old to get his story.
Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: 17-year-old Nigel Williams a resident of Roaring Creek Village Cayo district is claiming police brutality. According to Williams he was walking in the back area of Roaring Creek Village when the incident occurred. He explained more.
Nigel Williams, Roaring Creek Resident: “I was basically coming out of my yard to go look for my mom and at the time the police mobile saw me and I was fixing my mask on my face and the police told me they had to detain me and they took me. I politely went with them and I was throwing a little obscene language in the back of the pickup but I don’t think they had any right to do me what they did to me and how they have my face and stuff like that. What if I lost my eye or something like that who would have paid for that and I have work and all of that and that is just messing me up now. I just want people to open their eyes and see what is going on out here on the streets. Police and so are doing too much stuff like that on the streets. People are not animals and stuff like that, people are just like them when they’re not in those uniforms they just represent something else.”
