CEMO Preps for the Upcoming Hurricane Season

Belize is less than two months away from the Atlantic Hurricane Season. Emergency organizations have already begun reviewing their emergency plans including the Belize City Emergency Operations (CEMO). Aside from the review, shelter managers have been receiving training in sheltr management with an aim for them to be better equipped when the time comes. Love News, spoke with the Belize City Mayor, Bernard Wagner, who highlighted the measures that the council will put in place to mitigate the effects that hurricanes bring to the city.

Hurricanes are not the only natural disasters that the emergency organizations have to prepare for. Many times, the torrential rains and Invest systems would bring intense flooding to certain parts of the city and country. Mayor Wagner says, in this regard, the council has been updating their response plan.

Mayor Wagner said that he is satisfied with their readiness in the event of an emergency and is hoping that we will be spared once again this year.
